Roger Chris, son of Lewis and Marie (Ehrichs) Hagedorn, was born October 7, 1937, near Aspinwall, in Crawford County, Iowa. He attended rural school near his home and then completed his education in Manning, graduating with the Class of 1956. After graduation Roger worked as a farm hand for a couple of years.

On September 11, 1960, Roger was united in marriage with Deanna June Petersen in Audubon. That same year he started working for J&S Feed Service in Manning. Roger and Deanna were the parents of four children and made their home in Manning. After 28 years with J&S Feed Service, Roger started working as a custodian and bus driver for the Manning Community School District. He retired from there in 2007. After he retired, Roger worked part-time as a custodian at the Manning Post Office until his health started to decline.

Roger was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning and was a lifelong member. In his spare time he enjoyed woodworking, fishing and being with his family. He especially enjoyed attending activities of his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In October of 2012, Roger was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. After a brave fight, he died Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at the Manning Regional Healthcare Center at the age of 75 years, 7 months and 14 days.

Preceding him in death are his parents; parents-in-law Chuck and Mabel Petersen; brother-in-law Merlon Murray; brother in law Don Petersen and wife Norma and sister-in-law Carol Hagedorn.
