Rosalia Marie, daughter of Joseph Brandt Sr. and Katharina (Mueller) Brandt was born October 3, 1930, south of Templeton, Iowa. She attended Aspinwall School in Crawford County. After eighth grade she worked for neighbors, the Manning Monitor and later at home caring for her mother. Rosie was baptized in Templeton and confirmed in Manning.

In her spare time Rosie enjoyed quilting, playing her accordion and also making home-made rhubarb wine. Rosie's faith was very important to her. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she joined the Catholic Daughters of the Americas and was a long-serving secretary of the Altar Society.

In May of 2013 Rosie was diagnosed with bone cancer. After a brave fight she died July 14, 2013, at the Manning Regional Healthcare Center at the age of 82 years, 9 months and 11 days.

Preceding Rosie in death were her parents; sisters Gertrude and her husband Erwin Gehling and Margaret and her husband Lawrence Tranter; brother Engelbert Brandt and brother in law Marcus Esser.

Rosie is survived by her sisters Sophia Esser of Woodbine and Catherine and her husband Walter Bissen of Earling; sister in law Mary Ann Brandt of Manilla; brothers Joseph Brandt, Jr. of Manning and Christian and his wife Mary Ann Brandt of Aspinwall; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
