Funeral services for Roy H. Kruse are being held today, Thursday, July 9, 1981, 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning with Pastor Edward F. Heinicke officiating. Organist is Dorothy Kusel. Interment will be in Manning Cemetery. The Ohde Funeral Home in Manning is in charge of arrangements.

Roy H., son of William J. and Wilhelmina Schrum Kruse, was born September 4, 1917, near Manning in Crawford County, Iowa. He attended the country and Manning schools. He was united in marriage with Pauline Elias on September 2, 1942. To this union were born three children, Doug, Bette and Bonnie. Pauline passed away July 5, 1961.

Roy was united in marriage with Lorraine Knop on August 2, 1969.

He farmed six miles west of Carroll for 14 years prior to 1959 when he moved to his present farm home near Manning.

Roy passed away on Monday, July 6, 1981, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Omaha at the age of 63 years, 10 months and 2 days.

Roy is survived by his wife, Lorraine; by the following children: Doug and his wife, Maralee of Grinnell, Bette, Mrs. Don Peterson of Ogallala, Nebraska and Bonnie, Mrs. Ray Buffington of Brownlee, Nebraska; by 4 stepsons, Kenneth Knop of Colorado Springs, Alan Knop and his wife, Patti of Atlantic, Clark Knop and his wife, Linda of Atlantic, and Tom Knop, student at Iowa State University; by 9 grandchildren and 3 step-grandchildren. He is also survived by his parents, Mr. & Mrs. William Kruse of Manning, by a brother, Robert and his wife, Velma of Manilla, by his mother-in-law, Mrs. Mary Shane of Manning, and by two sisters-in-law, Mrs. David Fonua of Burlingame, California and Mrs. Earl Sprague of Watervliet, Michigan; by nieces and nephews, as well as by many other relatives and friends.

Roy was an active member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Manning, having served in many church offices, including president of the congregation and Elder. He also has been a director of the Aspinwall Co-op.


Roy Kruse is buried in the Manning City Cemetery.
