Ruth, daughter of Theodore and Emma (Sommerfeldt) Farrell, was born February 8, 1918, in Manning, Iowa. She was graduated from the Manning High School in 1936. On November 18, 1936, she was united in marriage with Elmer Fischer. They have always made their home in this community. Ruth had been in failing health and died on Tuesday, March 8, 1983, at St. Anthony Hospital, Carroll, Iowa, at the age of 65 years, and 1 month.

Preceding her in death were her parents; two sisters, Bess Olbertz and Delpha Roberts; and by a brother, Warren Farrell.

She is survived by her husband, Elmer, of Manning; by two sons, Warren Fischer and his wife, Charlotte, of this community, Robert Fischer and his wife, Diana of Carroll; by two daughters, Kathleen, Mrs. Chuck Coleman, Manning, and Janet, Mrs. Richard Plumb, of Kirkman. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren; a sister, Nellie, Mrs. Delton McNutt, Manning; and a brother, Leonard Farrell, of Manning.

Funeral Services were held at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 11, 1983, with Pastor Edward F. Heinicke officiating.

Interment was in the Manning City Cemetery with Gary McNutt, Earl Hoffmann, Mark McNutt, Fred Pistone, Joe Eischeid and David Olbertz serving as casketbearers. Honorary casketbearers were her grandsons, Troy Fischer, Gale Fischer, Jerry Fischer, and Jeremy Plumb.

Ruth was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Manning.

Ohde Funeral Home in Manning was in charge of arrangements.


MRS. ELMER (RUTH) FISCHER
Mrs. Elmer (Ruth) Fischer, 65, of Manning, died Tuesday evening, March 8, 1983 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 11, at Zion Lutheran church in Manning with the Pastor Edward F. Heinicke officiating. Dorothy Kusel will be organist. Burial will be in the Manning cemetery under the direction of the Ohde Funeral Home of Manning.

Mrs. Fischer is survived by her husband, Elmer, Manning; four children: Warren and his wife Charlotte, Manning; Robert and his wife Diana, Carroll; Mrs. Chuck (Kathleen) Coleman, Manning, and Mrs. Richard (Janet) Plumb, Kirkman; seven grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Dalton (Nellie) McNutt, Manning, and a brother, Leonard Farrell, Manning.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters: Bess Olbertz and Delpha Roberts, and a brother, Warren Farrell.

Mrs. Fischer was born February 8, 1918, in Manning, a daughter of Theodore and Emma Farrell. She graduated from Manning High School in 1936 and on November 18, 1936, was married to Elmer Fischer at Glidden. She was a member of Zion Lutheran church.


Ruth Fischer is buried in the Manning City Cemetery.
