Funeral Tuesday For Mrs. Ewoldt, Manning Woman
Longtime Resident Dies After Sickness Of Two Weeks
Suffered Broken Bones Three Times In The Last 10 Years
Funeral services for Mrs. Sophia (Schröder) Ewoldt, 77, will be held in the Zion Lutheran Church in Manning Tuesday, February 25, 1936, at 1 o'clock, with Pastor Johann M. Ansorge, officiating.
Burial is in Hayes Township, Cemetery, Crawford County.

Daughter of Christian Friedrich and Auguste Friederica (Nebendahl) Schröder, she was born in Germany, January 7, 1859, and passed away at the home of a niece, Mrs. John Vinke in Manning, Saturday, February 22, 1936.

Mrs. Ewoldt is a pioneer of this territory, having lived in this vicinity for the past 60 years. The early part of her married life was spent on a farm in Crawford County, near Manning. About 30 years ago the family moved to Manning, purchasing a home on Center Street. Here Mrs. Ewoldt lived until about six months ago, when she made her home with Mrs. Vinke.

Mrs. Ewoldt was the mother of 10 children. Her husband, Henry C. Ewoldt, preceded her in death, passing away July 2, 1925.

Later, two children, William and, Helma (Mrs. Adrian) Mitchell, passed away.

The following survive: Julius, Manilla; Henry, Emil and Hugo, Manning; Rudolph, Manilla; Olga (Mrs. Herman) Schrum, Bradley, South Dakota; Marfa (Mrs. Lawrence) Clausen, Aspinwall; Cerena (Mrs. "Bud" Clarence) Bowling, Green Bay, Wisconsin.

There are 25 grandchildren.

During the past ten years, Mrs. Ewoldt has endured a great deal of suffering being afflicted with several strokes. She was confined in the hospital three times because of broken bones. A few years ago, she fell down the basement steps, breaking an arm. Later she fell from a chair, breaking a hip.
About a year ago, while visiting a friend, she stumbled over a step, breaking a shoulder blade. She recovered completely. She became ill about 2 weeks ago and was unconscious for several days before death.
