Sophia Grau

Mrs. Detlef Grau died at her home in Manning last Monday at 7 o'clock. She has been in failing health for some time with complications of diseases but old age caused her death. Mrs. Grau was a good kind mother and has won nothing but praise since coming to Manning.

Sophia Sachlaben was born in Schleswig, Germany, September 20, 1832 and was married to Detlef J. Grau on Nov. 26, 1854. Eight (?) children were born to this union. She leaves a husband and 4 sons to mourn the loss of a loving wife and mother.

Mrs. Grau has always been connected with the Lutheran Church and always lived a good Christian life.

Rev. Martens officiated the funeral and interment was in Manning Cemetery.

WHEREAS the Almighty in his infinite wisdom has removed from the house of our beloved brother, Dethlef Grau, his beloved wife, Sophia, be it
RESOLVED that the members of Teutonia Lodge No, 560 I.O.O.F extend herewith their heartfelt sympathy to this brother and his family in this hour of bereavement, further be it
RESOLVED that these resolutions be spread upon the minutes of the Lodge, one copy of same be presented to our mourning brother and his family and that it will be given to the local papers for publication.
