Mrs. Hans Kruse Dies.

Last week friends of Mrs. Hans Kruse were pained to learn that she had died February 9, 1911. Since 1894 she and her husband have lived in Manning where she had made many friends. Last Sunday the funeral was held, Rev. Fruechte preaching the sermon at the church. The remains were then taken by the sorrowing friends and relatives to the Manning Cemetery where they were laid to rest.

The deceased, Miss Sophia Witt, was born in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, April 18, 1835, and she was married there to Hans Molter. They came to America in 1870, locating at Davenport. Mr. Molter died in the same year, leaving her with her little family, of three children and she brought these to Denison. She was married at this place to Hans Kruse in August 1872, and they moved to Iowa Township the next year, where they farmed and made their home till 1894, when they moved to Manning. She leaves her husband and two children, Charles H. of Denison and Mrs. Bess Wilson of San Francisco, also three step-daughters, Mrs. Jacob Kuehl of Iowa Township, Mrs. Adolph Stamp, of Manning and Miss Schroeder of Goose Lake, Iowa, also two brothers, Carl Witt of Denison and Fritz Witt of Schleswig, there are also eighteen grand children and eight great-grandchildren.


Sophia Kruse is buried in the Manning City Cemetery.
