SYLVIA LOUISE LUTZ

Sylvia Louise Lutz was born in Parkers Prairie, Minnesota, April 25, 1936, the daughter of Raymond and Rose (Urban) Shamp. She was raised in Manning, Iowa, where she was baptized and confirmed in the Presbyterian Church. She received her education in the Manning Public Schools from which she graduated with honors with the class of 1954.

On April 17, 1955, Sylvia was united in marriage with Donald Marion Lutz in Manning, Iowa. Their union was blessed with five children: Larry, Craig, David, Donna and Karen. They made their home in Denison until 1957 when they moved to the farm in Goodrich Township north of Denison. Sylvia was a busy homemaker raising her family and helping with the farm work. In later years she was a nurses' aid to individuals in their private homes, and worked at Cronk's and the Jo-Mart Steakhouse. After retiring she moved to Denison.

For many years Sylvia was the Goodrich Township Volunteer for the American Cancer Society, was active in Toastmistress Club and the Democratic Party, and served many years as a WESCO volunteer. In her leisure time she enjoyed playing bingo, watching Lawrence Welk, was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and followed the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Sylvia died Thursday morning, July 31, 2014, at her home in Denison. At the time of her death she had been blessed with 78 years, 3 months and 5 days.

Including her parents, Sylvia was also preceded in death by her husband, Donald Marion Lutz and an infant son, Larry Donald Lutz.

Those remaining to cherish her memory include four children: Craig Lutz and David Lutz of Denison, Iowa; Donna Lutz-Johnson and Karen Kokensparger and husband Brian of Omaha, Nebraska; four grandchildren; Brenton Johnson of Omaha, Nebraska; Anna Kokensparger of Boston, Massachusetts; Kathleen Kokensparger of Omaha, Nebraska; and Thomas Lutz of Vail, Iowa; other relatives and friends.

Private family graveside inurnment services were held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, August 5, 2014, at Oakland Cemetery, Denison, Iowa.
