THEODORE KUYPERS
KILLED IN RAILROAD ACCIDENT

November 22, 1917 Manning Monitor

It was one of the saddest and most unexpected accidents that took from our vicinity, last Sunday, a man in his prime of health, happiness and ambition. Mr. Theodore Kuypers, in company with his brother-in-law, Mr. C. Patton, and C.M. Cross of Dedham, all foremen on the Milwaukee, was on a special bound for Perry to attend a section foremen union meeting. They were traveling along quite rapidly, when the safety machinery which all of them understood well, became active. The switch opened and to prevent collision with the oncoming train the speeder was derailed. Mr. Kuypers received a skull fracture which caused his death. Two men suffered injuries but not of serious nature.

Mr. Theodore Kuypers was born on May 29th, 1889, at Breda, Iowa, and the time of his death he was but 28 years of age. He moved from Breda to Dedham and lived there until he was eleven years old, and at that time he took up his abode at Templeton where he lived until his marriage to Miss, Edith Lavina Foster, of Wiota, Iowa, on July 15, 1916. Since then the happy pair have made their home in Manning. It was just 3 years ago June 5th, that Mr. Kuypers' father was killed in a railway accident. He leaves behind, much saddened by his departure, a wife and mother; Mrs. Joe Bierl of Templeton, besides one brother and five sisters, who are as follows: Mrs. Thomas Pex of Litchville, N, D., Mrs. Charles Justice of Omaha, Mrs. Carmen Mathews of Omaha, Mrs.
