A MEMORIAL RECORD
Theresa Mary Hansen was born in Carroll County, Iowa, on November 19, 1899. Her parents were the late Joe and Josephena (Nutt) Olbertz. As an infant she was baptized and at the age of 10 she was confirmed in the Christian faith.

Theresa grew up in the Carroll and Crawford County areas of Iowa and attended the public schools in Carroll County.

On May 10, 1926, Theresa and Thomas Hansen were united in marriage at Manilla, Iowa. Following their marriage the couple farmed. They became the parents of 2 daughters and 3 sons. The family came to Minnesota in the 1940's and first settled in Jackson County...later moving to Cottonwood County in 1952, near Storden. They farmed until retirement following the harvest in the fall of 1985.

In 1986 her husband suffered a stroke and he passed away August 21st of that year. Following his death, Theresa lived with one of her sons, Roger, until March of 1987 and then lived with one of her daughters, Velma, until October of 1988. She suffered two broken hips and was a patient at the Dickinson County Hospital in Spirit Lake, Iowa, until January 4, 1989, at which time she entered the Sogge Good Samaritan Center in Windom. It was there that she passed away early on Wednesday morning, December 27, 1989, at the tender age of 90 years, 1 month and 8 days.

Besides her parents and husband, Theresa was preceded in death by 4 brothers and 2 sisters.

Her survivors include her children: Mrs. Clifford (Velma) Netsch of Bingham Lake, Minnesota; Mrs. Delores Sykes of Melrose, Iowa; Wayne Hansen of Algona, Iowa; Roger Hansen of Windom, Minnesota, and Clifford Hansen of Storden, Minnesota; 20 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
