THOMAS DOYEL

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, December 18, 1973, at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning for Thomas Doyel age 80 of Manning.

Reverend Joel Wright of the United Presbyterian Church in Manning officiated and was assisted by Reverend Roy E. Jons of the Baptist Church in Humeston, Iowa. Mrs. Judy Joens was soloist for the services and Mrs. Bonita Hagedorn organist. Interment was in the Manning cemetery with grandsons as pallbearers.

Thomas Doyel, the son of George and Margaret Wilson Doyel, was born on November 1, 1893, at Dixon, Missouri. He attended the rural schools near his home and united in marriage to Martha Jane Parker on January 20, 1915. They farmed near Dixon until 1922 when they moved to a farm near Earling, Iowa. After seven months they moved to a farm west of Botna, Iowa and since 1938 have lived south of Botna.

Thomas retired from active farming about 13 years ago and passed away suddenly at his home early Saturday morning, December 15, 1973, at the age of 80 years, and 24 days.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, two grandsons, one brother and one sister.

Survivors include his wife Martha, six children, Elmer Doyel, Newell, Iowa; Mrs. Virgil (Mildred) Crouch, Irwin, Iowa; Leslie Doyel, Manning; Mrs. Wade (Thelma) Mohr, Manning; Mrs. Hazel Meggers, Council Bluffs, and George Doyel, Manilla; 22 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Lillie Dochnal, Humeston, Iowa, as well as many other relatives and many friends.
