MRS. C.H. (TILLIE) KOEPKE DIES.

Word came to Manning last Friday that Mrs. C.H. Koepke of Verdigre, Nebraska, had died suddenly, which was a shock to the friends and relatives living here.

The following obituary was taken from the Harlan Tribute.

A telegram Friday morning brought the distressing news of the sudden death of Mrs. C.H. Koepke, following the birth of a babe that lived but a few hours. During her Illness the physicians gave her inhalations of chloroform. Immediately after announcement the mother became unconscious and never rallied, dying twelve hours later. The body was brought to her parent's home Saturday morning; funeral services were held at the house conducted by Rev. Edwin C. McDade of the Methodist Church; interment was in the Harlan Cemetery.

Tillie Hansen was born at Velstrup, Denmark, January 27, 1880. She was the youngest child in the family of Mr. and Mrs. Truel Hansen. When she was a few months old the family came to America and lived at Le Mars, Iowa, for a year and a half, when the family came to Harlan. Here the deceased resided until her marriage. She was engaged for several years with the Harlan & Avoca Telephone Co. and was a most obliging assistant. On May 4, 1904, she was married to Mr. C.H. Koepke, station agent for the Union Pacific Railway Company, Verdigre, Nebraska, Deceased leaves two children; a boy of seven, and a girl of five.

Relatives present at the funeral from abroad were: Mr. and Mrs. C. Norgaard; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Swanson; Mr. and Mrs. R.L. Smith, Council Bluffs; Mr. and Mrs. Fred ?, Columbus, Nebraska; Mrs. Ella Scott, Omaha; Mrs. Koepke and Miss Lena, Manning; Mr. and Mrs. Julius Brunnier; Mr. and Mrs. William Ohde; Frank and Fred Koepke Manning; Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Swaney, Carroll.
