Antonia K. Hinz

The Rite of Christian Burial for Antonia Kathryn Hinz was held Thursday, October 23, 1997 at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, Manning, Iowa. Reverend James McAlpin was the celebrant with Ray Thielen as lector and Robyn Ramsey and Michelle Ramsey as mass servers.

Music was provided by the Sacred Heart Choir with Maureen Halbur as organist. Interment was held in Manning City Cemetery with Orville Hinze, Larry Stangl, Marland Mork, John Whited, Roy Whited and Craig Whited as casketbearers.

Prayer service was held Wednesday, October 22, at 7:30 p.m. at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning with Rosary at 4:00 p.m. by the Catholic Daughters of the Americas.

Antonia, daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Mallmann Feldman, was born June 11, 1897, in Manning, Iowa. She graduated from Manning High School with the class of 1914, after which she taught rural school for three years. She then worked at the creamery office downtown, and then at Dultmeiers Manufacturing Company.

On February 19, 1933, Toni married Adolph H. "Ott" Hinz at Sacred Heart Church in Manning, and at the same time adopted Adolphs's son, Harlyn.

Toni entered Manning Plaza Nursing Home on June 9, 1993. On October 20, 1997, Toni died there due to complications of old age. She reached the age of 100 years, 4 months and 9 days.

Toni was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Manning all her life and a member of Catholic Daughters since 1921.

Besides her parents, Toni was preceded in death by her husband; a brother, Emil Feldman; a sister, Minnie (Mrs. Grant) Harding; a grandson, Gregory Hinz; four sisters-in-law: Vera Mork, Lillian Mohr, LaVerne Hoffman and LaVina Dethlefs; and a niece, Marilyn Whited.

She is survived by her son, Harlyn Hinz and his wife, Ernestine; two grandsons: Tom and David Hinz; a granddaughter, Robin Hinz Garner; five great grandsons; two nephews: Wade "Bud" Mohr and Marland Mork; seven nieces: Lila Schroeder, Marjorie Whited, Iva Hinze, Dwanna Axland, Ariadne Dennis, Sharon Moore, and Pat Grundmeier and by numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and many friends.


Antonia K. Hinz is buried in the Manning Cemetery.
