VERNA MARIE BALD
Verna, daughter of Frank and Laura (Ewoldt) Hell, was born May 27, 1916 at Larabee, Iowa.
The family lived in various localities, eventually settling in Manning.

On January 31, 1943 Verna was united in marriage with Walter Bald. Two children, Lyle and Karen, were born to this union. Verna and her husband farmed near Manning in Lincoln Township, Audubon County; they moved to Manning in 1976.

Verna died suddenly and unexpectedly at her daughter's home in Lincoln, Nebraska on Friday, October 27, 1995, at age 79 years, and 5 months.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Gladys Mahnke.

Survivors include her husband, Walter, of Manning; her son, Lyle, and his wife, Arlene, of Aspinwall; her daughter, Karen, and her husband, Steve Whyman, of Lincoln, Nebraska; three grandchildren: Chad, Melissa, and Cami; three step-grandchildren: Jeffrey, Amy, and Dwight; two step-great grandchildren: Nicholas and Jenna; her brother, Dale Hell, and his wife, Sue, of Kansas; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Verna was a member of Zion Lutheran congregation and of the Friendly Neighbor Club.
