Verna Lanore Clark

Funeral services were held for Verna Lanore Clark Friday, July 19, 2002, at Ohde Funeral Home in Bayard, Iowa. Pastor Cathy Van Gundy of Hope Parish United Methodist Churches officiated. Lane Jahn provided music. Interment was held at Highland Township Cemetery in Bayard, Iowa. Casket bearers were Kim Jahn, Kent Jahn, Dana Jahn, Eric Jahn, Clark Jahn, Christian Jahn and Terry Games.

Verna Lanore, daughter of Joseph and Anna "Cassie" (Schwartz) Games, was born March 5, 1914, near Bayard, Iowa. She attended country school near her home and then attended school in Bayard.

On September 29, 1931, Verna was united in marriage with Ralph L. Clark in Missouri. They lived on the Clark family farm and other farms in Guthrie and Greene Counties. Verna was a bookkeeper for Headlee Motors in Coon Rapids, Ross Graner in Manning and various other businesses. Verna and Ralph moved to California in 1953 where Ralph worked in security for General Motors until his medical retirement in 1971. They returned to Bayard the next year. Ralph died on December 31, 1982.

After the death of her husband, Verna remained in their home in Bayard. She enjoyed spending time with her brothers and sisters and the rest of the family. Verna was a member of the United Methodist Church in Bayard.
Verna's health failed after a bout with pneumonia in March of 2002, but was able to remain at home with the help of hospice. She died there on Monday, July 15, 2002, at the age of 88 years, 4 months and 10 days.

Preceding Verna in death are her parents; husband; only child, daughter Delores and husband Lyle Jahn; brother Loren Games and sister Lavonne and husband Paul Mozena.
She is survived by four grandsons: Kim Jahn and wife Mari of Manning; Kent Jahn and wife Heidi of Ames; Dana Jahn and friend Lori Schechinger of Manilla and Eric Jahn and wife Shannon of Elkville, Illinois; eight great-grandchildren: Michelle and Husband Pete Elgin; Christian Jahn; Gretchen Jahn; Tiffany Jahn; Lane Jahn; Clark Jahn; Ashley Jahn and Brittany Jahn; brother Lester Games and wife Katherine of Coon Rapids; two sisters Wilma and husband DuWayne Erb of Spencer and Lula Games of Bayard; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
