Vernon Anthony Irlmeier, son of Albert and Catherine (Williams) Irlmeier, was born November 24, 1948, in Manning, Iowa. He attended Washington No. 9 country school near Manning and attended Manning High School.

On September 18, 1976, Vernon was united in marriage with Carol Peter at St. Joseph Church in Dedham. Two children were born to this union. Vernon farmed all his life, first on his own and then with Ronny Frahm for a number of years. Vernon also worked in Denison for ConAgra in meat processing and then for Van Horn farms in Glidden. He retired in October of 2016.

Vernon was a member of Sacred Heart Church. In his spare time he enjoyed playing cards, spending time with his grandchildren, family and friends. He enjoyed being on the farm and working with his hands.

Vernon's health had been declining for some time. He died peacefully at his home in Manning surrounded by his family on Tuesday, August 29, 2017. He was 68 years, 9 months and 5 days of age.

Vernon was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Catherine Irlmeier; sister, Joleen Brincks; and parents-in-law, Frank and Anna Peter.

Vernon is survived by his wife Carol Irlmeier of Manning; daughter Catherine Wernimont and husband James of Carroll; son Steven Irlmeier of Manning; two grandchildren, Nicholas and Natalie Wernimont; siblings: Sharon Daniel and husband James of Carroll; Shirley Heithoff of Carroll; Marlene Irlmeier of Manning; Ron Irlmeier and wife Donna of Manning; brother-in-law Daryl Brincks of Carroll; sisters-in-law Betty Riesenberg of Carroll; and Frances Wieland and husband Shorty of Templeton; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
