MRS. VIOLA BARNES

Mrs. Viola Barnes, 89, of Carroll died September 6 at St. Anthony Hospital. She had been a resident of a nursing home here for about two years and prior to that lived in the Coon Rapids-Bayard area.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Methodist Church at Bayard, with burial there in the Highland Cemetery. Arrangements are in charge of the Starling Funeral Home, Bayard. The Rev. Dale Bass will officiate and Lula Games will be organist. Patricia Schwartz and Ruth Starling will be vocalists, singing "The Lord is My Shepherd" and "Still, Still With Thee."

Pallbearers will be Bayard Legionnaires Wayne Halterman, William Cornish, Norman Crees, Walter Ebersole, Kenneth Wetzel and Carroll Greenlee. Mrs. Barnes was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary at Bayard.

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Herman (Esther) Sievers, Coon Rapids; a son, Lloyd Barnes Jr., Pinole, California, a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Barnes was born October 21, 1877.
