VIOLA L. BEHRENS
Viola Lucille Dammann, the daughter of Julius and Ella (Goettsch) Dammann, was born and raised at Manning, Iowa, and was baptized and confirmed at the Zion Lutheran Church. Following her education, she helped with the family farm operations. On February 19, 1950, she was united in marriage to Harold Behrens at Manning. The couple made their home in the communities of Estherville, Fenton and Pocahontas before moving to Humboldt in 1954. Mrs. Behrens was employed with the hot lunch program in the Humboldt Community School District from 1963-1972. In 1973 Mr. and Mrs. Behrens moved to Spirit Lake, where they made their home, until returning to Humboldt in 1986. Mr. Behrens passed away in March of 2000, and she continued to maintain her home. She passed away at the Trinity Regional Medical Center on the morning of December 22, at the age of 75.

Viola Behrens was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church and the L.W.M.L. in Humboldt. She served as a volunteer for many organizations, including the prison ministries, Camp Okoboji Auxiliary, tape ministries, and AAL. She is survived by her mother, Ella Dammann of Humboldt; son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Peg Behrens of Humboldt; daughters and son-in-law, Ruth and Jim Kellner of Rutland and Mary Palmer of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Virginia Gray, Mac Palmer, Tim Thorpe, Sarah Behrens, and Jim Behrens; great-grandchildren, Cody, Tayler and Alena Palmer; and her brother, Arlo Dammann.
