Viola Karstens
Funeral services for Viola Karsten were held Tuesday, March 26, 1998, at 10:30 a.m. at the Manning First Presbyterian Church. Reverend Marshall Brown officiated the service. Interment was held at Manning City Cemetery. The Meyer Funeral Home of Council Bluffs was in charge of arrangements.

Karstens, 92, was a lifetime resident of Manning, Iowa, until entering the Risen Son Christian Village in Council Bluffs, Iowa, May 28, 1991. She died at 10:00 p.m. Saturday evening, March 23rd, at her Risen Son residence.

Viola was one of twin daughters born to Hannes and Anna (Hagedorn) Karstens at Manning, Iowa. She graduated from the University of Iowa in 1922 and taught high school English and Latin all her working lifetime.

She was a member of her sorority, the Manning Presbyterian Church, the University of Iowa Alumni Association and she was a very prominent active member of the Republican Party.

Viola is survived by her twin sister, Verna Karstens, also living at the Risen Son Christian Village in Council Bluffs.
