Funeral Services Held Saturday For W.E. Barten
Funeral services for Walter Ernest Barten, 41, a farmer, were held at the Lincoln Township Lutheran Church Saturday. The Rev. William D. Kanning officiated. Burial was in the Irwin Cemetery.

Mr. Barten died suddenly Wednesday, February 19, 1947, at Clarkson hospital in Omaha, where he had been taken that day. He had not been well 18 months and had spent five months in a hospital.

Pallbearers were Clarence Barten, George Bald, Fred Bald, Louie Otto, Arthur Kruse, and Vic Ullerich.

Mr. Barten, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John and Ada (Meyer) Barten, was born in Lincoln Township, Audubon County, September 19, 1905.

He was married March 1, 1929, to Gertrude Schroeder at Boone, by the Rev. Mr. Guenther.

Survivors include his wife and four children, Verta Mae, Arlo, and Charleen, his step-mother, Mrs. Pauline Barten, and half-sister, Lorraine Barten, Rock Island, Illinois, and two brothers, John Barten, Botna, and Richard Barten, Westside.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
