Walter Hoffmann, Former Resident Dies At Walnut

Walter J. Hoffmann, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hoffmann, Sr., was born at Manning, Iowa, on August 26, 1902. He was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith and was an active member of the Evangelical Church. His early secular education was received in the Manning Public Schools, after which he took a business course at the Capital City Commercial College at Des Moines.

On November 12, 1924, he was united in marriage to Miss Elsie Kuhn at Manning. In the year 1925 the young couple went to Walnut, Iowa, to enter a successful hardware business and to make their home. Being a man of sterling quality he has won his place in the esteem of the community. Mr. Hoffmann had been afflicted with a heart ailment for years, but it was ordained that an infection should, through a period of a week, cause his death, which came early Monday morning, April 5, 1937. His age was 34 years, 7 months, and 9 days.

His father, a brother and a sister have preceded him in death.

Those mourning his passing are his faithful wife, three children, Dale, Ruth, and Mary; his mother, one brother, Emil of Holstein, Iowa; a sister, Mrs. Laura Fehr of Salem, Ohio, and many other relatives and friends.

Services were conducted at the Evangelical church at Walnut, Iowa Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock, with the Rev. William Krummel in charge. Burial was in the Walnut Cemetery.

The choir sang "Face to Face With Christ My Savior, and "The Old Rugged Cross."
