WALTER P. KARSTEN

Walter P. Karsten 64 a Salem resident 48 years, died after an apparent heart attack Monday night at his home.

He had retired two years ago after being employed 39 years with Capitol Ice & Storage and its successor Zero Ice Co. He had been superintendent for Capitol Ice. He came to Salem from Iowa where he was born. He lived at 1640 Madison Ave. NE and was a member of Salem Masonic Lodge and Order of Eastern Star.

Survivors include widow Margaret Pierce Karsten; daughter Shirley Lee Talkington, Portland; brother William, Albany; sisters Katherine Walcher, Springfield, and Williamina Gustafson, Salem.

Services will be 3 p.m. Thursday at W. T. Rigdon mortuary, Rev. Robert Mulkry officiating. Ritualistic services will be by Salem Masonic Lodge. Internment will be in Restlawn Memory Gardens. The family suggests contributions to the Heart Fund.
