W.E. LEE DIES

Wells Ely Lee, was born at Hamilton, Minnesota, February 5th, 1863, and died at Manning, Iowa, July 5th 1914. Several month ago he went to Rochester, Minnesota, and was operated on when he reached Manning on his way home it was thought best that he rest a short time at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Donald W. Sutherland, Mrs. Sutherland (Bertha) being his sister. Instead of improving he gradually failed and he passed away Sunday morning.

Monday sorrowing relatives took the remains to Corning where burial took place Tuesday.

He lived with his parents at Hamilton, Minnesota, until three years of age when he moved with them to Evansville, Wisconsin. In the fall of 1871 his parents removed to Corning, where he lived until three years ago, going from there to Grant City, Wisconsin. He was a jeweler by trade and was engaged in that occupation the most of his life. He was a member of Company K. 51st Iowa Infantry, going with them to the Philippines and acting in the position of bugler. He was a member of the Masonic Order at Grant City, Missouri, and of the Consistory at Des Moines. He was also a member of the order of Knights of Pythias and of the Woodmen.

The deceased stood high in the community as a citizen and friend of his fellowmen.
