Funeral services were held October 12, 1970, for Wendell Lockett, only son of Mrs. Genevieve McNeley, owner of Genevieve's Dress Shop in Manning. He passed away after a long illness due to cancer. He was 54 years of age and a retired Army Lt. Colonel, and was given a full military service and laid to rest in a National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.

He is also survived by his wife, Eurada, and an only son, Currie.
