Wilbert W. Jansen

Wilbert W. Jansen, age 85, of Castana died Friday, October 21, 1994, at Elmwood Care Centre in Onawa.

Services were held 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ute with Pastor Edgar Bode officiating.

Burial was in St. Clair Cemetery, Ute. Creta Teut was the organist for the service and St. Paul's Choir sang "How Great Thou Art" and "Amazing Grace." The congregation sang "What A Friend We Have In Jesus." A prayer service was held on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. at the Walter-Armstrong Chapel in Ute.

Wilbert William Jansen was born December 16, 1908, at Manning, Iowa, the son of Louis and Katherine (Frahm) Jansen. The family moved to South Dakota later returning to Manning. He married Stella Neumann January 11, 1939, in the Lutheran parsonage in Ute. The couple lived near Vail, Iowa. He worked as a farmhand northwest of Soldier. The couple retired in 1970 and moved into Castana. Wilbert entered Elmwood Care Centre in Onawa in May of 1994.

He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ute.

Survivors include his wife, Stella; a daughter and her husband, Dorothy and Dean Daniels of Ponca, Nebraska; a brother and his wife, Ray P. and Alice Jansen of Omaha. Nebraska; a sister and her husband, Leone and Wesley Young of Moline, Illinois; six grandchildren: ten great-grandchildren and two step-great-great-grandchildren.

Wilbert was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and three sisters.

Pallbearers were Mark Daniels, Steve Millard, Trevin Wimmer, Kent Eslick, Alan Schnoor, and Mike Golden.

Arrangements were made under the direction of the Walter-Armstrong Funeral Home of Ute.
