Wilhelmina Bruhn

Wilhelmina Emma Marguerite Hansen, the daughter of Jurgen and Anna Meyer Hansen, was born on May 27, 1896, near Manning, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

On December 28, 1922, she was united in marriage with William Bruhn. For a period of eight years the family lived in Carroll County and in 1931 they took residence in Audubon County. In 1958 she moved to Manning. For the past four years and seven months she resided at the Manning Plaza.
She passed away on Friday, May 11, 1984 at the age of 87 years, 11 months, and 14 days.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, in Lincoln Township, Audubon County, and was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Manning.

Survivors include five children: Edna Nissen of Manning, Herbert Bruhn of Manning, William Bruhn of Manning, Mrs. Philip (Ann) Stillman of Emmetsburg, and Mrs. J.A. (Louise) Philpott of Culver City, California. Also, 21 grandchildren and 14 great granchildren; a brother, Hugo R.C. Hansen of Manning; a daughter-in-law, Mary Bruhn of Gray; and a sister-in-law, Alta Hansen of Manning as well as many other relatives and friends. She was proceeded in death by her husband, William, in August of 1953; a son, George J., in November of 1978; a son-in-law, Melvin Nissen, in February 1976; her parents; and three brothers; Herbert, John, and Henry J.M.


Wilhelmina Bruhn is buried in the Manning City Cemetery.
