Mrs. Jacob Kruse Passed Away
Manning Monitor July 7, 1938

Universal sorrow was awakened Sunday morning by the tiding that Mrs. Jacob Kruse had fallen victim to the pernicious malady from which she had been suffering for some time. Her death occurred at about 11 o'clock Saturday evening, July 2, 1938, at her home on South Ann Street, very unexpectedly to her many friends, who were hoping for a recovery.

To her many friends, Mrs. Kruse was known to be a very cheerful and indulgent mother to her family and a good companion to her husband. During the last few years she suffered occasionally with disability through mishaps from which she never fully recovered. She carried her lot well and patiently, and enjoyed the esteem of all those who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Wilhelmine Kruse, whose maiden name was Dreesen, was born September 5, 1865, in Schoenberg, Probstei, Holstein, Germany. She received her educations in the schools of Schoenberg and Krumbek, was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. At the age of 19 years she came to America and directly to Manning.

In the year of 1888, she was united in marriage to Mr. Jacob Kruse of Manning, to which union six children were born, all of whom are living and mourn the death of their beloved mother, besides the bereaved husband and father. The children are Nettie, Mrs. Louie Puck of Springfield, Minnesota; Amanda, Mrs. Elmer Turnbloom of Duluth, Minnesota; Claudius, of Winona, Minnesota; Frieda, Mrs. George Adolphsen of Chokio, Minnesota; Anna, Mrs. Thomas Klyver of Fresno, California; and Wilma, Mrs. Lloyd McCullom of Carroll, Iowa. She leaves 26 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

At the time of her death, Mrs. Kruse was 72 years, 9 months, and 28 days of age.

Private funeral services were held Monday, July 4th at 2 p. m. at the Manning Cemetery, with Rev. John M. Ansorge, Pastor of the Zion Lutheran Church of Manning officiating.

Mr. and Mrs. Kruse spent nearly all of their married life in Manning, and on May 5th, 1938, they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in the company of all their children and grandchildren.

A happy couple, parents of a group of splendid children, has been severed through the death of the mother, until they meet again where there is no pain or sorrow.

The Monitor wishes to extend their deepest sympathy to the bereaved family in their hours of sorrow.
