WILLIAM GRUHN

William Gruhn, 79, died at his home at the east edge of Manning Friday afternoon, April 10, 1964. He had undergone surgery early in March.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning, with burial in Manning Cemetery. The Rev. Carl Sinning, pastor of the Presbyterian Church, will officiate.

Mr. Gruhn was born July 30, 1884, in East Prussia and came to the United States with his family when he was a small child. They settled at Manning, later moved to Kirkman and then returned to farm east of Manning. He was married to Alma Jansen on February 17, 1909. They farmed near Manning and 15 years ago moved to the present farm at the edge of town.

After the death of his wife and one son, Lester, in an automobile accident on June 23, 1957, Mr. Gruhn continued to live on the farm with his other son and daughter.

Surviving are his son, Arthur M., and daughter, Leona G. Gruhn, both at home; and the following sisters and brothers: Mrs. Frank (Augusta) Lamp and Mrs. George (Dora) Struve, Carroll; Harry K. Gruhn, Manning; Paul Gruhn, Denver, Colorado; Mrs. William (Alvira) Meggers, Westside; and Max Gruhn, Manning.

Preceding him in death besides his wife and son were a brother, Fred Gruhn, and three brothers and sisters in infancy.
