William Arthur Gruhn was born January 7, 1954, the son of Lavern and Edith Miller Gruhn. He died Saturday, August 20, 2016, at his home in Denison, Iowa, at the age of sixty-two.

Bill was born in Crawford County, Iowa, the brother of Wayne and Stan.

He received his education from the Denison Community Schools, graduating with the class of 1972, continuing his education at Northwestern Missouri State in Maryville, Missouri. In 1975, he started Custom Motorcycle at his home in Denison. As the business grew he changed locations several times. Adding small engine sales and service with Toro and Stihl, until settling the shop on Ave C, adding Denison Rental Center to his business. On July 25, 1980, Bill was united in marriage to Holly Kirk.

Bill was a man with a heart, as "Big" as he was. He was a very kind and compassionate man who loved animals. He was a big Green Bay Packers fan, Vince Lombardi was his favorite coach. He liked all of his sayings, especially "Winning isn't everything but wanting to win is." In his leisure time he enjoyed watching television, the O'Reilly Factor and Hannity were his favorite programs. In his younger days Bill loved riding his Harley and Gold Wing Motorcycles. He enjoyed going to Lake View and fishing on his pontoon.

He was a life member in the NRA.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Laverne and Edith. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Holly; brother, Dr. Stanley Gruhn and his wife, MaryLynn of Wisconsin; nephew, Dr. Hugh Gruhn and his wife, Carolyn of Arizona; niece, Jennifer Logterman and her husband, Robb, of Wisconsin; great nephews and nieces, Oliver, Lily, Julianne, Gray, Matthew and Margaux; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Services were held 10 A.M., Saturday, August 27, 2016, at the Huebner Funeral Home in Denison, Iowa. Pastor David Loeschen officiated the service with graveside rites held at the Manning Cemetery in Manning, Iowa. Organist Karen Kahl provided accompaniment for soloist Kara Struck singing," Amazing Grace." Kara also sang "My Heart Will Go On." Recordings of "You Will Never Be Forgotten" and "I'll See You Again" were also played. Serving as pallbearers were Zach Schoenfeld, Terry Schneider, Kent Struck, Josh Brown, Dale Reis and Leo Welsh.
