The Aspinwall community was saddened this week by the sudden death of William Hansen on Sunday afternoon, May 26, at the Carroll hospital. Last Thursday afternoon he became quite ill and several 'days later was taken to the hospital where he died of a cerebral hemorrhage.

Bill, as he was known to his large host of friends, was highly, respected and will be missed by many. He was a good neighbor and was always ready to assist his friends in time of need.

William Hansen was born on June 4, 1897, in Hayes Township, a son of Hans and Katherine Hansen, and died on May 26 at the age of 48 years, 11 months and two days. When he was a very small boy his parents moved to Aspinwall, where he attended the local school. After finishing the eighth grade he attended business college at Waverly, Iowa.

For two years and also, was graduated from the Denison Commercial College with the class of 1916. Upon completion of his education he was employed at the Ehrichs General store in Aspinwall, and was later a business partner of Frank Ehrich's, during which time the store was known as Ehrichs and Hansen. Though this partnership was dissolved fifteen years ago, he was again associated with the business as a clerk a few years later, and in all, spent thirty-five years in this profession.

He always took an active part in local affairs, and at the time of his death he was the treasurer of the Aspinwall Co-op and assessor for the town of Aspinwall.

As an infant he was baptized in the Lutheran faith, repeating his vows at the time of his confirmation. He was an active member of the Zion Lutheran Church at Manning.

On May 10, 1922, he was married to Olga Plahn, who is left to mourn his passing. He is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Lorenzen of Milwaukee and Mrs. Ida Ewoldt of Aspinwall. His parents and one brother preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Zion Lutheran church, Manning, with Rev. John Ansorge officiating. Interment was made in the Manning Cemetery. Pall bearers were Emil Kuhn, William J. Kruse, Herman Frahm, Frank Ehrichs, Emil Ehrichs, and Hubert Lamp.
