Rites Held at Home Tuesday Afternoon.
Another happy home was made desolate when the angel of death appeared in our midst Saturday, January 16, entering the home of J.F. William Jahn and demanding the husband and father of this estimable family after a brief illness of but a few weeks.

He was baptized in the Lutheran faith by Rev. Chris Herrmann. He was the son of Paul William Jahn and wife Catherine (Lemster). He was united in marriage March 13, 1907, to Miss Martha Peper. This union was blessed with six children of which one, Willetta, died in infancy. He leaves to mourn his early demise his bereaved wife, Martha Jahn, and five children, Hugo, Alva, Amos, Bernice and Ila, a daughter-in-law and one grandson, also his bereaved parents, Mr. and Mrs. Paul William Jahn; three brothers, Herman, Louie and Hugo, and four sisters, Caroline, Mrs. H.E. Kuhl; Minnie, Mrs. Gus Meggers; Amanda, Mrs. George Peper, and Adele, Mrs. Ed Mordhorst, all residing in this community except Mrs. George Peper who lives in Flandreau, South Dakota.

The deceased was a kind and loving husband and father, a cheerful and helpful neighbor and friend; highly respected by all and known as a man of sterling character, fair and upright in all his dealings. He held the public office of township trustee for twenty years, conducting same very conscientiously and economically. He was educated in the Hayes township schools, resided in the immediate community ever since, reared a splendid family and gained a host of friends and admirers by whom he will be greatly missed. His early departure is a great loss to the community as well as the immediate family.

Funeral services were held at the home Tuesday, January 19, 1932, at 1:00 o'clock, the Reverend Frese of Denison conducting the services. His earthly remains were laid to rest in the Hayes Township Cemetery.
