Ardith Ann, daughter of Joseph and Frances (Wittrock) Bluml was born February 7, 1929, on the home place near Halbur, Iowa. She attended school in Halbur and lived with her family on the farm. On September 1, 1948, Ardith was united in marriage with Albert Sturm at St. Augustine Church in Halbur. They were the parents of seven children and farmed and raised their family near Templeton until moving to a farm northwest of Manning. They resided on that farm for 54 years. Albert and Ardith lived in Manning after retiring.

In addition to being a housewife Ardith worked at Manning General Hospital for ten years. In her spare time she enjoyed playing cards, slot machines and dancing at the Five Mile House. Above all she was devoted to her children and grandchildren. Ardith was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Parish in Manning where she taught CCD for a number of years.

Ardith's health declined shortly after the death of her husband Albert in 2013. She entered Manning Regional Healthcare Center a day before her death there on February 26, 2015, at the age of 86 years and 19 days.
