Great web site! Love to see Merlyn and Bev's lights because they are my aunt and uncle. My Mom,Pat, was born and raised in Manning. It is nice to see many childhood memories on the page. My maternal great uncle is Cyril van Oosten Kusel. His ancestors were of the Lazarus clan from Kusel, Germany. The family is thought to have come to a very young USA as early as the late 1780's or early 1790's. Feel free to e-mail me at any. Regards, Brad Rish (rhymes with 'fish').

Hi! I was told about your neat and interesting web site from a gentleman I work with who is very interested in your barn. I was over in Germany this time last year and it brought back really good memories and feelings. My grandfather was born and raised in Germany and then was moved to the USA when he was a teenager. So was very interested in my past history. What a neat expierence in life to visit my heritage. thanks for great music I am a lover of it good for the soul.

Haven't been back to Manning in a while, but my wife Kris and I like to drive through when we're that way, and the town looks better than ever. Have lots of good memories from back in '92-'94 when I was working for Al at the P.D. Those experiences have helped me as a Des Moines Officer. When friends ask about Manning, I always tell them that it's one of the best towns around to raise a family in. I miss not having to lock our doors. Hope everyone there is doing well.

I was surfing for info on ponds because I want to convert my inground pool to its own ecosystem. The liner is disintegrating so I want to line it with EPDM. I was looking for info and that's how I got to you. What a website you have and since you are doing other things that I intend to do in the future I'm sure I will be back to visit. Can you tell me how much the EPDM costs and where you got it. Also, how did you handle the algae. That is my main problem now. I am experimenting with managing the water for critters now before I empty it and put in the new lining. My pool is 32' x 16' and about 12' deep at deep end and 4 ' at the shallow end. Any hints you can give me will be greatly appreciated. At least I don't have to dig the hole! Thanks much for a very informative site.

I though I was the only crazy person to take on such a big project. When I saw the "so called" falls they built for the town of Columbia Falls Montana (when they built the Hungrey Horse dam, the real falls dried up) I laughed my ass off! If I would have had the money they waisted on it, my falls would have been even higher. Right now it "falls" a full 5 feet! I to did it completely myself. By hand! The water comes from one pond I built on a bit of a hillside (it's oval in shape) and comes out into a rocky stream (about 12' long) and FALLS 5 feet into a larger pond I built closer to the house , circulates and is pumped back up into the oval pond. I'm still working on it. 4 years now, but it is really "Far out"!

Hello David, I am interested in knowing more about the Gerbitz line in your tree.I am a native of Milwaukee Wis.and my grandfather Karl F. Gerbitz emmigrated from Kallies Kreis Dramburg in Pomerania in 1893.Only known relative was Minna who died in Berlin. His father Karl and mother was Henrietta Ratz. Most other Gerbitz's in S.E.Wis .are part of the Norbert Gerbitz family tree which is in Juneau Wis.No ties established yet between us tho our ancestral homes Kallies and Naugard are only about 45 miles apart. Please inform me of what you know about this clan and the names of any of that side that may be researching Gerbitz's. The other (Maternal ) side to Karl are Lohry (Lohrey) names also of Kallies. Thanks and great music. Gene Gerbitz in Tn.

My great grandmother, Mary Schroeder came from Germany and lived with cousins in Manning, Iowa. In her picture book there are pictures of a Meta, Lena and Henry Grahimes or Johchimes. There is also a picture of a young couple with just Longbehn, 1902 written on the back. I was trying to locate the families to give these pictures to them can't bear to throw them out. My g grandmother most likely spelled the names how they sounded not how they are actually written. It is nice that Manning has a website as nice as this one. Alice
