Rev. Kanning conducted the first service in German on the festival day, with Pastor Schliepsiek of Iowa City conducting the 10:30 service, and Rev. Hugo Nieting of Ute, the 2:30 service. More than 900 persons attended the worship services. Fifty souls were released to the daughter congregation, St. John's of Audubon, while Pastor Kanning served Trinity. Rev. Kanning was called to his heavenly home on March 28, 1957, while in office.

Installation services were held at Trinity on April 13, 1958, at 2:30 p.m., for Rev. Hugo Hein who served a dual-parish with St. John's of Audubon until January of 1961. A very thorough self-study was conducted while Pastor Hein was at Trinity-St. John's. Rev. Hein is now pastor of Good Shepherd, Lewiston, Idaho.

The congregation resolved to combine the 80th anniversary celebration, occurring in 1961, with their annual Mission Festival held on the second Sunday in June. Rev. Sass of Arcadia served as interim pastor during that vacancy.
