Mission Aid Society

On Thursday, February 13, 1947, eighteen ladies and Fastor William D. Kanning met at the church to organize a ladies society. Names for the society were voted on with the name, Trinity Lutheran Mission Aid Society, adopted for the new society. The constitution was adopted as drawn up by the committee.

Officers elected to serve were Alice Beck, Pres., Lela Zinke, Vice Pres., Leatha Hansen, Secretary, Clara Ullerich, Treasurer.

There were thirty-four members when the society was organized. The Mission Aid Society meets the second Thursday of each month. Pastor Knoke presents the lesson from the Lutheran Women's Quarterly. Present officers are: Ruth Hansen, Pres., Elsie Willesen, V. Pres., Lela Zinke, Sec., Lydia Ahrendsen, Treas.

There are eleven members at the present time. Charter members are Lydia Ahrendsen, Leatha Hansen, Lela Zinke, and Selma Ullerich. The Mission Aid Society is a member of the Carroll Zone Lutheran Women Missionary League of Iowa District West. The L.W.M.L. is involved with mission projects at home and in countries around the world. Two of the members of the Mission Aid, Ruth Hansen and Myra Asmus, are serving on the Carroll Zone board of officers at the present time.

The Mission Aid works on mini-mission projects with many completed such as preparing Kiddie Kits, collecting eye glasses, unused extra Bibles, bars of soap and preparing layettes. Tray covers, lap robes and bibs have been presented to nursing homes.

Each fall a bazaar and luncheon is held. Guest day is observed with ladies of the congregation or from a sister congregation invited for the day sometime during the year.
The Mission Aid always stands ready to help whenever needed by members of the congregation.

Fellowship Group

The Fellowship group was organized on January 28, 1954, while Rev. Kanning was serving Trinity.
This group was organized for Bible Study, Christian Fellowship, and to assist in caring for the church. All these goals are still being carried out.
Charter members that still belong to this group are: Hugo and Leatha Hansen, Elsie Willesen, Ruth Ahrendsen, Harold and Darlene Asmus, Emil and Pearl Kurth, and Robert and Ruth Hansen.
Over the years many projects have been completed by this group. A few of them are: purchasing a vacuum cleaner for the church, replating the Communion Ware in 1959, making and painting the Nativity Scene in 1958.
