Vacancy Pastor Israel of Manilla wrote in the letter that came with the call (which had been delayed in order to give the congregation time to dig a new well), "I hope you can preach German." I could and I did till the beginning of World War II, preaching double-headers in the morning in both the German and English language. The folks coming out of the German service responded to my "Guten Morgen" with "Good Morning." This I couldn't understand. Can you explain it?

The young people of that day - Walther Leaguers - were a joy to me. Their enthusiasm, initiative, love, resourcefulness and the unexpected kept us on our toes. They, as well as the Ladies Aid, met mostly in the homes.

Possibly some will also remember that we conducted services in the Adventist Church in Audubon after Pastor Grote didn't serve there. As you go into the next century of Trinity, accept our well wishes. May the church be a blessing to all of you, and you in turn a blessing to others also in the community.

Dear Members of Trinity,

It is with joy and praise to God that we write these words. We express our congratulations as for one hundred years the Lord has blessed you and given you the opportunity to be a blessing in His Kingdom all those years. The Lord be praised!

We also thank God that we were privileged to be a part of that history. We spent a memorable time there. And we still speak of those days with joy and thanks to God in our hearts.

We remember the vitality and Christian friendliness and love of the congregation. We truly enjoyed living there and having such wonderful people and a wonderful parsonage in which to live.

Other memories include Randy being born there and Rich starting school at Gray. It was great to have all that space out there in the country for the boys to grow and play in. There are many other memories which come to our minds but are far too many to recount. We will rejoice with the Lord when we meet in Heaven if we are not permitted to do so while here on earth.

With that we say once again, "Praise be to God" on this your one hundredth year of existence in the Kingdom of God. With joy in the risen Christ,

Pastor and Bonnie Hein
