In case you didn't notice above - Bud's middle name is "Manning." Bud told me that when his father came to Manning for the first time he fell in love with the community so later when Bud was born he gave him the middle name of Manning.

Manning High Girls Win at Exira
The Manning High girls' basketball team played the return game at Exira last Friday night, which they won by a score of 41 to 35.
Accompanied by Miss Rendleman, the coach, whose home is at Exira, the team went to Audubon over the Northwestern, but, as connection was not made with the Rock Island south the trip was completed by automobile. Returning the connection was such they cane all the way by train.
The Exira people made their visit very pleasant. After the game they were invited to the Rendleman home, where refreshments were served and an enjoyable social, get-acquainted hit was spent. Miss Ruth Rendleman one of the Exira team, is a sister of the Manning coach.
The teams are fairly matched and though the score ran high, played quite an even game. At the end of the first quarter the game stood 13 to 11 in favor of Exira, but in, the second quarter the Manning girls staged a rally and closed the game with their score 24 to 21. They held the lead until the game was finished with the score, Manning 41, Exira, 35.
