MARY THERESA JOHNSON Obituary ---

Mary Theresa Johnson, 52, of Manning, died Wednesday, October 30, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha of complications resulting from open heart surgery. She taught schools in Dedham, Templeton and Irwin during the past nine years. Before that she taught in various communities in Minnesota and South Dakota. Rite of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 4, at Sacred Heart church in Manning with the Rev. Msgr. Dean Walker as celebrant. Burial, under the direction of the Ohde Funeral Home of Manning, will be in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call at the Manning funeral home after 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Rosaries will be recited there at 3 and 7:30 p.m. Sunday.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by her husband, Dale, Manning; four sons: William Johnson and his wife, Gretchen, San Antonio, Tex.; Robert Johnson and his wife, Ruth, Pocatello, Idaho; Steven Johnson, Omaha, and Thomas. Johnson, Ames; a granddaughter Kimberly; her mother, Mrs. Rosa Prunty, St. Joseph Manor, Aberdeen, S.D., and a brother, Lawrence, Rockford, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her father and four brothers. Mrs. Johnson was born at Andover, South Dakota, on April 6, 1933, a daughter of Victor and Rosa (Beumer) Prunty. She graduated from Andover High school in 1951 and from Northern State Teachers College, Aberdeen, in 1955. She continued her education in various other South Dakota and Iowa schools.
On June 4, 1955, she was married to Dale Johnson.

They lived in various communities in Minnesota and South Dakota before moving to Manning in 1968.
She taught Junior High English.

She was a member of Sacred Heart parish.
A memorial for the American Heart Association has been established in Mrs. Johnson's memory.
