First Place Winners Will Continue Competition With Other Schools in State

Winners in the home declamatory contest held at the high school auditorium Wednesday evening were decided in a field of seventeen competitors giving their numbers in oratorical, dramatic and humorous classes. A large crowd heard selections which were all good.
Top winners in each group as selected by Mrs. B.E. McKean of Harlan were:

Oratorical
Colene Gray, junior, first: Sally Schrum, freshman, second.

Dramatic
Marian Godiksen, Junior, first; Marilyn Popp, freshman, second, and Dorla Eckley, senior, third.

Humorous
Rose Ann Rix, sophomore, first; Ruth McConnell, junior, second, and Sue Ann Clark, freshman, third.

First place winners in all three groups will continue in competition with other state schools on dates to be announced.

One musical number was given at the close of Wednesday night's' program when Iris Kuhl sang "Lullaby" from Jocelyn. Miss Esther Stryzewski; vocal instructor, played the accompaniment.
