Elroy's brothers are Carl of Manning and Delmas of Atlantic. He has one sister, Helen Tiefenthaler of Halbur. Darlene has one sister, Maxine Rowe of Whittier, California, and had one brother, Harvey, deceased.
Elroy worked for Dultmeiers Mfg., North American Aircraft at Inglewood, California, and later managed the D-X oil station at Manning. From there he went to work for the U.S. Postal Dept. at Manning, and retired December 2, 1979.
Darlene taught school for four years, sold World Book Encyclopedias for 19 years, and is now employed at the Manning General Hospital.

Sharon and her husband, Keith Kelderman, live in Manning. Their children are Brian and Eric. They have five grandchildren.
Stanley Schrum has lived in Cleveland, Ohio, since his discharge from the U.S. Navy in 1968. He is a Stationary Engineer in the United States Steel Mills.
Steve Schrum and his wife, Marilyn (Quick), live in Nevada, Iowa. They have four children: Jonathan, Jennifer, Jamie and Jill. They have five grandchildren.
Sue and her husband, David Rauch, live in Manning. Their children are David, Dan and Jackie. They have five grandchildren.
Sandy and her husband, Dale Moeller, live in Leon, Iowa. They have three daughters: Teri, Robin and Shelly. They have three grandchildren.
Skip Schrum and his wife, Coleen (Collins), live in Alta, Iowa. They have two children, Stacy and Mike.
Sheila Schrum lives in Des Moines, Iowa, where she is a Registered Nurse at Blank Children's Hospital.
In 1988 Darlene married Hal Cadwell, from Manilla, Iowa. They lived at the Schrum residence in Manning, until April of 2004, when they moved to the Swan House in Carroll, Iowa.
