Other memories of Bud:
Once the Allies secured the region Bud and the crew of the 537 could spend some free time sight-seeing. In Paris Bud walked from the Arc De Triumph to the Eifel Tower which is 5 1/2 miles apart.
During their stay in Paris they traded cigarettes for food and nicknacks.

Bud bought a ring for one cigarette. He has been wearing this ring since 1945.

Horse Steak was a common meal in France. Bud traded 2 cigarettes for a Horse Steak Meal.
