Arthur Henry, son of William and Dora (Rose) Branning, was born March 5, 1913, near Halbur in Carroll County, Iowa. He attended rural school near his home and then started farming with his family.

On September 16, 1942, Arthur was united in marriage with Bernice Vetter at First Lutheran Church in Omaha, Nebraska. On the 23rd of that month he entered the United States Army serving in the European Theatre with the 60th Chemical Depot during World War II. After his honorable discharge in October of 1945, Arthur returned to Iowa. He and his wife lived, farmed and raised their family on a farm in the Halbur area. In 1974 after 35 years of farming, Arthur retired and he and Bernice moved into Arcadia.

During his retirement, Arthur enjoyed driving truck, woodworking and going places with his wife.

Arthur was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Arcadia; American Legion in Arcadia and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Manning. He also served on the Arcadia City Council. When Arthur's health began to fail in early 2006, he became a resident of the Manning Plaza Nursing Home. He died there on Saturday, November 18, 2006, at the age of 93 years, 8 months and 13 days.
