Funeral services for Albert John Fonken, 71-year-old Oakland, Oregon, resident who died in a Portland Hospital last Friday, March 20, 1959, will be held at Wilson's Chapel of the Roses at 2 p.m. Thursday.
Fonken was born March 10, 1888, at Manning, Iowa. He was a veteran of World War I, a member of the Oakland Masonic Lodge, and was a retired railroad worker.
He is survived by his wife Ida (Zoeller) Fonken of Oakland, one daughter, Catherine Fonken of Medford, two brothers and one sister. A son, Elmer Charles Fonken (March 12, 1920 - April 4, 1932 - buried in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Philomath, Oregon) preceded Albert in death.
The Rev. Richard S. Wayne of the Oakland Presbyterian Church will officiate at Thursday service. Concluding services and interment will be at Roseburg Memorial Gardens, Roseburg, Oregon.
