August G. is son of August Kusel Sr. & Nellie Ellen (Concannon) Kusel. He was born South East of Manning on the August Kusel farm in Audubon county. In 1910, August Kusel Sr. moved to Oregon with his wife Nellie and several of their 13 total children.

August G. married Wilhelmine Karsten on July 21, 1920 in Manning, IA.
Wilhelmine is the daughter of Jacob Peter Karstens & Anna Opperman also of Manning.

August & Minnie had twins who died at birth. August, his wife Wilhelmine and the twins are buried in City View Cemetery in Salem, Oregon along with his parents August Sr. & Nellie.

August G. Kusel, son of August & Nellie Ellen (Concannon) Kusel, died at his home, 1368 N. 16th street Salem, Oregon, Tuesday, April 14th, 1925, at the age of 32 years, 8 months and 7 days. He was born August 7th, 1892, at Audubon, Iowa. He served 1 year and 7 months in the World War and was honorably discharged when the Armistice was signed.

He was married to Miss Wilhelmine Karsten and moved to Salem, Oregon, where he made his home. There he was employed on the City Street Department for nearly two years. On the third day of October 1924, he was compelled to undergo an operation for ulcer in the stomach, which was performed in a hospital in Salem. Ever since he suffered for nearly seven months with anemia which caused his untimely death.

He left to mourn his death, his grief stricken wife, his mother, Mrs. Ellen Kusel, six sisters, Mrs. Ida Green and Mrs. Mary Stuhr of Salem, Oregon; Mrs. Dora Stuhr of North Dakota; Della (Mrs. George) Jensen and Mrs. Dessa Jensen of Audubon, and Mrs. Earl Langley of Portland, Oregon. Four brothers, John and Lou of Audubon, Herman of Des Moines, and Vernon of Salem, Oregon.

The funeral services were held Friday, April 17, at 1:30 p.m. and internment was made at the City View Cemetery at Salem, Oregon. The bereaved wife and mother have our sympathy.
