Albert is brother to Lawren Stoelk.
They both went to Little Rock, Arkansas boot camp.
Albert was headed out to
California by train to continue his military service when the Armistice was signed.

Funeral services were held Saturday, October 1 at the Ohde Funeral Home, Manning for Albert Ferdinand Stoelk. Reverend Edward F. Heinicke of the Zion Lutheran Church, Manning officiated.Burial was in the Manning Cemetery with military honors by the American Legion Post No. 22 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars No. 3517.
Ohde Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. He attended the rural schools near his home and was in the United States Army during World War I.
He was united in marriage with Elsie Klindt on August 20, 1919. They farmed southwest
of Manning until moving to town in 1948. Albert worked for the city of Manning for many
years. His wife died on November 29, 1957. Albert has been in failing health for the past
several years and entered the Manning Plaza in July of this year, where he passed away
early Thursday morning, September 29, 1977, at the age of 82 years, 7 months, and 11
days. He is survived by the following children, Merle Stoelk of Manning, Darlene, Mrs. Otto Porsch of Granger, Iowa, Janice, Mrs. Alvin Popp of Manning, and Berdine, Mrs. Orry Herbers of Las Vegas, Nevada; by 15 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; by 2 brothers, Charlie Stoelk of Austin, Minnesota and Lawren Stoelk of Lake View, Iowa and by 1 sister, Mrs. Ella Reimers of Manning; as well as many other relatives and friends. |
