Bert Borkowski summoned at 73

Funeral services were held Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church in Lewisville, Minnesota, for Bert Borkowski, 73, of that community, who died December 18, 1959, at Madelia Hospital following surgery.

His death came just three days after his half-brother, Henry Borkowski, 79, died suddenly enroute to the same hospital

Bert was born in Audubon Iowa, June 10, 1920, to Henry and Johanna (David) Borkowski. He married Clara Urban at the Antrim Church near Lewisville; and they made their home in Audubon County, Iowa, until 1930, at which time they moved to Watonwan County. Some years ago they retired from farming and moved to Lewisville.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the American Legion post at Lewisville, Mr. Borkowski was a World War I overseas veteran. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Dorvin of Seattle, Washington; Allen of Truman and Wilbert of Lewisville; one grandchild; five brothers; Emil of Westington Springs, South Dakota; Gust and Leo of Audubon, Iowa; Paul and Albert of Manning, Iowa; four sisters, Mrs. Annie Jurgens of Audubon, Iowa; Mrs. Ernest Meyer and Mrs. Laura Dalke of Omaha, Nebraska; and Mrs. Max Jurgens of Sibley, Iowa.

Rev. Julius Dahms officiated at the funeral services. Military honors were conferred by the Lewisville American Legion Post. Burial was in the Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, Lewisville, Minnesota.
