At this point in time I have NO military pictures and very little information about Robert's service - other than what is in the short 1944 Monitor article and his obituary below.

Manning Monitor article------ 1944

In Army Air Corps Reserve
Now wearing the blue and silver wings of a future air combat crewman is Robert F. Barsby, age 17, who successfully qualified for enlistment in the reserve corps of the Army Air Forces according to word from the AAF examining board in Des Moines.
He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Barsby of Manning, and is a senior at Manning high school.

He will not be called to active duty until he becomes 18. However, in the meantime if he is under the age of 17 years and 9 months at date of enlistment, and is a high school graduate, he may choose to take advantage of the army specialized training reserve program which provides free college training in the finest schools of the country until the reservist reaches military age.
Nine months of such work is equivalent to a little more than a year and a half of regular college work.
