Frank Bliefert
1921 - 1992


Frank LaVerne Bliefert died July 10, 1992, at the Kirksville Osteopathic Medical Center, Kirksville, Missouri, at the age of 71 years.
Masonic Services were conducted on July 12, 1992, by Memphis Lodge #16 A.F. & A.M. Funeral services were held July 13, 1992, at the Memphis Funeral Home with Seth Wortman officiating. Organist was Ann Luther and vocalist was Guy Gardine. Burial followed in the Memphis Cemetery. Casketbearers were Dustin and Jason Bliefert, Harlan Kraus, Mark Kutzner, Bill Marsh and Woody Stogdill.
Frank was the son of Henry and Julia Johnson Bliefert of Manilla, Iowa. He was a graduate of the Manning High School class of 1941.

He entered the U.S. Navy on September 22, 1943, serving during World War II. He was a Ship's cook 2/C. He was discharged from active duty on May 22, 1946.

On February 9, 1952, he was united in marriage to Barbara George in Reno, Nevada. To this union three sons were born.
He worked for the Clearprint Manufacturing Company in Emeryville, California for 30 years. He and his wife then purchased the Grand View Motel in Memphis, Missouri and have been the owners and operators since 1980.
He was a member of the First Methodist Church, Hayward, California; Acorn Masonic Lodge No. 494, Oakland, California; Past W.P. of Lake Meritt O.E.S. #4101, Oakland, California; past member of the Evening Star Shrine of Jerusalem #66 San Leandro, California; Memphis Farm Bureau and The Scotland County Business & Professional Association, taking part in their promotions.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant sister.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara, of the home; his mother-inlaw, Chyrstal George, of Memphis; three sons, Randall L. and wife, Leeloy, of Columbia, Missouri, Ronald L. and wife, Janice, of Keokuk, Iowa, and Christopher L. of Hallsville, Missouri; six grandchildren also survive; four sisters; Louise Harden of Las Vegas, Nevada, Joyce Barnes of Osawatomie, Kansas, Carol Curran of Minden, Nevada, and Marilyn Faulkner of Hendersonville, Tennessee.

An expression of sympathy in memory of Frank Bliefert may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Frank Bliefert S 2c has been transferred to San Bruno Calif., advanced naval base where he is now stationed.

Frank sends his thanks to the Legion and, Monitor for the home town paper which he enjoys reading.

Frank Bliefert, U. S. Navy writes from San Bruno, California where he is now stationed, giving us a !change of address.
He says he had a happy New Year's day because as, he left a show and was walking down the street, he felt a tap on the shoulder and turned around to see Mr. and Mrs. Harold Nickum. Harold, a navy veteran, was recently home on furlough.

Frank says their menu for Christmas included fruit cocktail, crisp celery, stuffed olives, mixed sweet pickles, tomato bouillon, roast stuffed turkey, giblet gravy, apple and raisin dressing, cranberry sauce, whipped mashed potatoes, French peas, baked spiced ham, candied sweet potatoes, hot Parkerhouse oils, butter, fruit cake, hot mince pie, ice cream, mixed nuts, seasonal fruits, mixed hard candy, coffee and lots of cigarettes.
