Pfc. Richard Bushman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dick C. and Jessie (Bedford) Bushman, Manning, Route 3, is attending a school for clerks and typists of the air force at Silver City, New Mexico. The school is quartered on the New Mexico Western college campus.
Pfc. Bushman had been stationed at Sheppard air force base, Wichita Falls, Texas, prior to being sent to New Mexico Western, where he will be in training for 12 weeks.

Memorial Service for Richard "Dick" William Bushman was held Monday, August 18, 2003 at 1:30 p.m. at the Bella Vista Community Church in Bella Vista, Arkansas. Reverend David McKay officiated. Internment was Tuesday, August 19, 2003 at the Fayetteville National Cemetery.

Richard, son of Dick C. Bushman and Jessie (Bedford) Bushman, was born June 10, 1929 in Carroll, Iowa.

He served in the United States Air Force Intelligence Service Wing - Germany. He attended New Mexico Western College. He farmed in Iowa, before joining New Holland Farm Equipment where he was Regional Manager.

Richard moved to Bella Vista from Arlington, Texas. He was a member of the Bella Vista Community Church. He was a member of the VFW Post 9036 and of the Bella Vista Sheriff Winter Assistance Program.

He is survived by his wife, Jaunita Bushman of Bella Vista, Arkansas; three daughters, Barb Grist and husband, Jeff of Bennington, Kansas, Monika Riordan and husband, Dennis of Solomon, Kansas, Brenda Kroeker and husband, Bryan of Solomon, Kansas; two step-children, Judith Grace of Bozeman, Montana and Dean Watkins of Albuquerque, New Mexico; seven grandchildren, six step-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren.

Richard died Thursday, August 14, 2003 at his home in Bella Vista, Arkansas at the age of 74.
Mr. Bushman left Manning some 60 years ago.
