Mr. Meisel was born January 26, 1896, at Roselle, to Benjamin J. and Ola Kate (Williams) Meisel.
He moved to Manning as a young boy, attended schools there and served in World War I with Company F, 23rd Infantry. After being discharged August 14, 1919, he returned to Manning and in 1920 began working for the Claus H. Reinholdt Hardware Store. He later worked in the store for Harry Reinholdt until the business closed. He then worked for Kuhl and Vogt Store until retiring at the age of 65.
For the past 39 years he had made his home with his brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Hugo Ress in Manning.
He was a member of the Manning Posts of American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars, and a member of the fire department for 35 years.
Survivors include two brothers, LeRoy of Indianola, Iowa; and John, residing at the Carroll Manor, Carroll, Iowa; two sisters, Mrs. (Ola) Ress, Manning, Iowa; and Mrs. Myrtle East of Grafton, Illinois.
He was preceded by his parents and one sister, Lillian Watts.
